The Scott Addict LTD CD 2009 Road Bike is one of the most expensive mass produced bikes available on the market – and it’s weight beggars belief – below 14lbs! Add some pedals and bottle cages and it creaps towards 15lbs – but still thats extremely light. Your friends will marvel and crowd round as if it has just appeared from another planet.
Why is this bike such a deal then? Well the parts alone make it fantastic value – the wheels RRP £2,250 – seat £330 – levers around £650 so it all starts to add up.
Riding the bike is an experience. It climbs like it is made from thin air, decends nicely and is surprisingly stable at high speeds. The only negative aspect is that it is a little harsh for the UK’s potholed roads, and do you really want to ride £2k carbon (one smash and they are scrap) wheels around all day – not to mention the tubs which aren’t exactly easy to replace at the road side.
